The 2018 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art opened to the public on April 22 and showcases the work of architects, artists, and designers who are shaping the future of art and design. The exhibition features pieces that are the culmination of two years of studio work from more than 70 graduates. It will run through May 13, 2018 at Cranbrook Art Museum.

The exhibition fills the entire upper galleries of the museum. It is the most diverse exhibition offered all year as it showcases work from the Academy’s 10 departments — 2D and 3D Design, Architecture, Ceramics, Fiber, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Print Media, and Sculpture.

On April 29, visitors are invited inside the Academy’s private studio spaces for Cranbrook’s seventh annual OPEN(STUDIOS) event. This is the only time of the year when the public is invited inside the private studios to see workspaces of today’s emerging artists and designers. Student artists and faculty will discuss their work and student art will be for sale. The event is free, and includes admission to Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook House, Saarinen House and the Cranbrook Institute of Science. Museum educators will offer kid-friendly tours and hands-on art projects.
